My 560 SL, 1986
I'd wanted one of these from way back, until I figured out that it was a two-seater! (Leaving out that I could in no way afford it anyway.) I needed a car with more room, such as the Camaro. It was only much later, after I owned a house, that it occurred to me that there was no longer any need to limit myself to only one car! And with the death of my mortgage, and the depreciation of the 107 cars, one was now affordable. This Road & Track article was of some use in choosing one.

The car needed more work than I thought (big surprise). It also leaked a lot of oil, and fixing this is kind of expensive.
